Insurance and investment company personnel access the Gator-Data website using a secure password to maintain product profiles constructed from tailored templates. The templates consist of cells each of which relate to a specific piece of information that is required about a particular product. To ensure consistency of information, the format of the data is prescribed e.g. numeric, “yes/no” and there is a comprehensive help facility for providers.
The site allows an individual to:
  • Add a new product
  • Amend an existing product
  • Clone and change an existing product
  • Hide a product
  • Delete a product
  • Download a full set of product information in Excel, XML or Access formats
  • E-mail a specific dataset to a specific end user
Gator-Data offers four logon levels to enable product providers to manage their product data accuracy and access:
  • Read-Only: This allows the data to be viewed only. This may be useful for consultants, or other departments (marketing) who need access to their product information but are not responsible for its maintenance.
  • Researcher: This allows product information to be edited and added but not validated as correct.
  • Manager: This allows product information to be changed and validated (sent to the live Gator-Data database).
  • Administrator: This allows the logons to be set and managed by the provider and gives “manager” rights automatically.
The administrator is responsible for ensuring all parts of the business have the correct level of access to the products for which they are responsible.
